Welcome to the new and improved SHSE English Honor Society Blog! Take a moment or two to introduce yourself to your fellow members. All members and potential members are encouraged (and by encouraged I mean required) to stop by and say hello!
Okay, so this is my obligatory hello. Hello, I’m Robyn. I’m a junior and I really love English. I know, how creative, English Honor society member who likes English, but it’s actually true. Creativity is something that I’m typically good with, I was a part of Solstice, the literary magazine (Tuesdays, Room 305!!) last year, and I’m looking forward to this year as well. I also love reading all types of books, stories and poems. I’m also considering running for one of the other officer positions. I think that’s enough of a hello, I can’t wait for us to get started!
Hey I'm Valentine. I'm not really sure what to write for this other than my name. Let's see, about me, I'm a junior, I'm sixteen... I'm not a very good driver, I can't really think of anything interesting to say about myself at moment- but I swear I'm actually not insanely dull and boring. I like English (figured I should say that at some point in this post). Oh I am highly sarcastic too. I am not a smoker and don't let Mr. Kirchenko tell you otherwise. Alright that's all I had to say. Oh and I think English HS should hold a book drive this year- just putting that out there.
Hi I'm Meagan. I'm a junior, I'm sixteen, I'm not a very good driver either...but I'm better than Valentine. I like English because it's the only subject that I don't think is boring. I think the English Honor Society can be a success this year. I can't wait to start getting involved.
Hello all. My name is Elena. I’m a junior. I don’t like writing “about mes” because they always sound so choppy…like this. I like reading (obviously), music, horseback riding, mustangs (kind of an obsession) and hanging out with people. I’m a vegetarian and I love animals. I usually don’t like books that are considered classics. I can appreciate that they are very well written and thought out, but they don’t really do it for me. My favorite book is The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. And um…yeah.
Hey everyone. My name’s Mehak and I’m a junior. I love to read and write, just the material that the reading and writing is on kind of changes that opinion. Honestly, though, I will read anything that you tell me to as long as it’s good. I’m not very picky about what I like and don’t like to read, but with some things I’m really stubborn about. I love to travel places and learn new languages and find out about new cultures. There’s not much else to say, well, not that I can think of right now anyways. So, bye!
Hey everyone! My name is Taylor Hoffmann. I am a cheerleader so if you do say "hi" to me in the hallway i will probably flash you a smile. You will also come to realize that I am very outspoken and loud(not as loud as Philly) but quite loud. I am very fond of english even though writing is not my strongest point.I was part of the society last year and i hope to continue to be a part of it cause I think this society can really contribute to smithtown EAST and our community. See you every monday! :)
Hey all! My name is Karissa. I'm horrified to say I'm a senior this year, and next year I'll be heading off to college. Since I'm in English Honor Society, I obviously have a passion for English (as you all do.) I plan on pursuing English in college in some way or another- either creative writing or doing a prelaw concentration. I love wasting my days away with a good book. I'm excited for EHS this year!
Hi Everyone! I'm Philly Bubaris and I am a Senior. I joined the English Honor Society because I wanted to be a member of the first EVER English Honor Society in Smithtown, and I happened to love English. I have a lot of ideas for fundraisers and community service projects because I feel that in order to show why we are honorable students, we need to show the community what we can do!
I am considering running for other positions also, such as Vice President or Treasurer. I think that's all I have to say! I can't wait for us to get down to business!!
Whats upp English Honor Society!! Im Dana Ballis and Im a senior. Being a cheerleader I want to bring more school spirit to our school. As a society we should organize events that bring the school together. These events can also raise money for any organization we want to help. So you kinda kill 2 birds with one stone, if that makes sense. I think this blog is really cool way to connect all the members. Thats basically it and Im pumped to get this society off to a strong start.
Hey everyone, I'm Chrysi Prakas. I'm a junior and obviously I like English. I'm probably not the best writer but I still enjoy writing(unless it's a school related essay). Also I love to read. If it's a book I really like I won't put it down until I'm done. I don't really know what else to say...soo..bye!
Hi, I'm Steph Chocko. I'm a junior, and I'm ALMOST sixteen... two weeks! Anyway, I like the idea of having more than one poetry night; I'm definitely more of a poetry person (both reading and writing) than an essay person. I read too much to pick a favorite book, but I just finished Paint It Black by Janet Fitch, and I highly recommend it. Oh, and I like English.
Aloha, my friends! I'm Alex, and I think that most of you would agree with me when I say English is my favorite subject. I like to think, I like to read, and I like write and put my ideas down on paper. I think the English Honor Society this year is going to be very cool if we could do book drives or a book club, or something. I'm also a junior, by the way.
Hi, This is Diane. I'm like a month late blogging, but i only just discovered this blog. I doubt anyone will be reading this comment, but ima write something anyway. I joined EHS because english is awesome, but i haven't been able to come to the meetings because it happens to be the same day as math team. And because I'm co-captain, not because i prefer math over english, I attend Math Team more regularly. I'm kind of bummed about that, but I'm hoping to still stay an active member whenever we start doing things outside of meetings, and if i have any ideas I'll go to Mr. Kirchenko, or an officer.
I'm a senior without her permit, and I love good food and beautiful things.
Hey y'all! It's Amanda! I'm a senior and I've loved english since forever. I'm not very good at the whole creative writing aspect of english but I like reading and I like writing essays and stuff, so I think this is a good place to be.
So this is the english blog, much more intense than last year's. I'm impressed with this year's turnout and enthusiasm so let's try to keep this up all year! I want to get a lot of things done and I can't wait for things to get underway.
I'm matt Jund. I like english. I especially like discussing novels and giving my opinion about different things...I am also the president of the intereact club which has nothing to do with english but it is community servie and alot of fun. (wednesdays room 340)
quick intro: I be Riccardo. Senior of this fine school and my second year of the society. What to say... I don't know. It's amazing how many words there are in the english language, yet I can't think of any to describe myself. So Yeah, english isn't my top class, but it's really cool and surprisingly I'm stil in AP. There's nothing better than a long, endless discussion of what the author is trying to convey or the literary devices. nice. that's it for now. peaceee
Hi, I'm Brittney. I'm a junior and I'm sixteen. This year has been going by faster than ever probably because I have been so busy. I enjoy creative writing but am probably better at history and science than english...though I still enjoy it enough to be in English Honor Society! If I read it is for guilty pleasure...meaning I am obsessed with books like Harry Potter and Twilight...but there are some classics that I've read in school that I really like. Guess thats it...!
Hey guys, its Amanda Danziger. I'm a junior, I play field hockey, soccer, and lax. Its my first year in English honor society and so far so good. I like writing more then I like to read and especially free unassigned writing. Umm I'm looking forward to doing the book drives and reading to children because I love giving back to the community. Kay sounds good for now, see ya soon x0 Amanda
Hey guys, Im Josh Weiss. I am proud your back-up officer haha. Thanks for your vote.
In terms of you getting to know who I like english, especially writing. I have donated a few poems to solstice and write for enjoyment on almost a daily basis. Unfortunately I do not have the time to read much outside of school and I am looking forward to reading for fun more through the book club that we will be setting up.
Regarding my responsibilities as your ambassador and secretary of defense (I prefer that name over back-up officer), I will do my best to make sure our society will stay safe (from the DECA menace). On a more serious note, I really want to get this club moving after the slow start of last year and I really want to get involved into the community.
Hey I'm Brittany. I am a junior and I have never been in English Honor Society before. I am excited to see what this club entails. I think it is a great idea to do some community service, and I can't wait to get involved. I think its a great idea to read to little kids and start a book drive, so I'm excited to get started. Sooo...I guess that's all for now :) ~Brittany

Hey everyone!! I'm Steph Kollmer. I'm a sophomore this year and it's my first in English Honor Society. I've been on varsity soccer since 9th grade and I've danced since I was 2. I love to read, and English is my favorite class. I'm in Creative Writing this year and I love it. I'm really excited to join Honor Society and I can't wait for everything to start!! :]
Hey I'm Samantha. I'm in 10th grade and this is my first year in the club. I dont really know what to say... But we should deff have the book drive. I was thinking if we could send the children's books to St. Jude's Cancer Research Hospital. But we would have to see if that would be okay, considering the germs. See you next Monday!
Hey, I'm Caitlin Fredricks. I'm a sophomore, and I'm fifteen years old, and this is my first year in English HS. I'm also actively involved in SADD and Interact and have been on the varsity tennis team since 9th grade. Lately I've been reading a lot of the Twilight Series...they're amazing! I'm really excited to be in English HS this year and am ready to help with all of the exciting tasks that we have ahead of us, which sounds like will first be the book drive. =)
